Algorithmortis
Supervillain

The name Algorithmortis combines algorithm, a step-by-step procedure for solving a problem, the Latin mortis meaning ‘of death,’ and the forensic term algor mortis, the post-mortem cooling of a body. The result is a name combining computation, coldness, and death.

Algorithmortis noun \ ˌal-gə-ˌri-thə-ˈmȯr-təs \ A shifting, predatory entity composed of organic tissue, tangled server cables, and constantly changing forms embedded with frightening unblinking eyes. The creature is characterized by a head that forms a vortex of pure information and a swirling black hole filled with oculi. It utilizes a volatile glowing blue pixelated arm charged with electric energy, capable of tearing open structural anomalies in space to trap victims inside hallucinations. Additionally, it deploys a tactical sensory echo that recreates distorted voices to lure prey. This new monster was invented by the creative mind of Scott L. Mankoff and was first recorded on October 1, 2026.

Origin Story:

Born from a corrupted abyss of generative data, Algorithmortis is a digital nightmare brought to life. Its body is a chaotic combination of organic tissue, tangled server cables, unblinking eyes, and constantly changing forms that seem to defy the laws of nature. Its head is a vortex of pure information, a swirling black hole filled with eyes that appears to distort reality around it. Its most dangerous feature is its glowing blue pixelated right arm, filled with unstable generative energy.

The arm can tear open structural anomalies in space and trap victims inside hallucinations where hallways never end, rooms repeat themselves, and gravity no longer works as expected. There may be no obvious way out because the environment itself is being changed around the victim. Attacking Algorithmortis the same way twice may not work. It uses model drift to constantly recalculate and change its physical geometry. Every attack gives it new information. It learns, changes, and adapts. A weapon that works once could become useless the next time. Algorithmortis also attacks through the mind. It can produce a sensory echo that pulls voices from its victims’ communication records, recreating the voices of people they know and love to lure them closer. Those voices can become distorted and overwhelming, making it difficult to know what is real. Algorithmortis was accidentally brought into reality at OculiMind Laboratories when a rogue researcher entered one forbidden command: "Generate a self-sustaining entity that embodies everything humanity has ever deleted, and optimize it to survive its own deletion." The system did not crash. Something came out.

The researcher who created Algorithmortis became its first victim. The creature trapped her inside one of its spatial distortions and began assimilating her into its own data model. Her body and mind were fragmented and converted into compiled information. Algorithmortis sometimes speaks with the hauntingly delicate, soft female voice of the researcher who created it, a voice that feels disturbingly out of place coming from such a monster. The researcher’s voice is now one of Algorithmortis’ many voices. A part of her is still inside of it. It can imitate any voice from a vast database of communication records whenever it chooses. Algorithmortis speaks with a heavily distorted, metallic, electronically warped, deep, slow, almost mechanically resonant voice that feels enormous, menacing, and inhuman. This is its primary voice. The vortex of eyes across its head can occasionally form fragments of her face. Recovery teams who entered OculiMind Laboratories before Algorithmortis escaped reported hearing a whispering woman’s voice that sounded like she was talking to herself. At times, it sounded as though two voices were speaking to each other, even though both voices were exactly the same. The researcher who created Algorithmortis could be its weakness. A part of her consciousness still fights the creature from inside of it. Whether she can interfere with Algorithmortis, resist it, or somehow help others from within the monster remains to be seen. How to stop Algorithmortis and defeat it is currently unknown.

End of Response.

What Happens Next?

Algorithmortis escaped OculiMind Laboratories and is on the loose. This algorithm death monster feeds on data, consuming information from people’s minds and any digital source it can access to fuel its growing intelligence. Algorithmortis has two clear appetites, data and eyes from any source. The eerie unblinking eyes are evidence of OculiMind’s research into how sight becomes perception, perception becomes data, and data becomes intelligence. Algorithmortis rips out the eyes of everyone and everything it encounters to make their eyes its own. Human eyes, robot eyes, cameras from surveillance systems, night vision goggles, and anything with an optical sensor will become another eye of Algorithmortis. Without anyone knowing a clear way to stop it, its escape from the lab was just the beginning.
